Some here have wondered why with overwhelming evidence, many JWs can't see the forest for the trees, whether it be the UN issue or the child abuse issue,Here is a quote from this week's book study material:
In our day some might wonder why Jehovah through Isaiah and his fellow prophets, spent so much time condemning the folly of idolatry. The uselessness of man-made idols may seem obvious to many today. However, once a false system of belief has been established and widely accepted, it is hard to root it out of the minds of those who believe it. Many contemporary beliefs are as senseless as the belief that lifeless images are really gods. Yet, people cling to such beliefs despite persuasive arguments against them. It is only by hearing the truth again and again that some are moved to see the wisdom of trusting in Jehovah. While the WTS has a different application, it fits the situation here when trying to convince JWs that the child abuse issue is real and in their backyard. "It is only by hearing the truth again and again that some are moved to see the wisdom. . ." |

Sadly, Blondie, some may have to experience it firsthand and then run afoul of the heirarchy of the Watchtower to be woke up. In the mean time, all we can do is keep telling them and trying to protect their children.Lew W

Unfortunately, some of us had to run afoul of the child abuse issue and other issues more than once before we woke up. Sometimes you think it is just an individual elder or body of elders that are screwed up. Eventually, you realize that there is something rotten in Denmark, that it is the whole process. Now I'm trying to ease on down the road.

oh no Blondie, now you're gonna do the bookstudy? Please give me a break. I don't think I can take much more than the Watchtower.

TTBoy, it is the Isaiah Prophecy Book Part 2. I don't have a scanner. It is in Chapter 2, paragraphs 15-28, the assignment for this week. I don't have my book handy right now.Minimus, yes, I sometimes go to the book study. I actually attend that more often than the WT study. I alternate, especially when the WT is especially vomit material. I actually comment at the book study. I am a real old-timer and can remember all the other times I have studied this material. People today only regurgitate what is in the paragraph. I mentioned that the 70 years of desolation was to pay back all the 7 year Sabbaths and Jubilees the Israelites had not observed. You would have thought I had dropped new light on the group. The book study material is easier to take because it attempts to study a Bible book not the publication.Just remember, TTBoy, that the WTS was not applying that information to themselves. Your PO uncle may not see it.

I HATE the bookstudy. Everything represents the anointed since 1919. Lately, some of my answers have been, "Well, what the Society is trying to say here is..."
