refiners fireRe: THEOCRACY looks like FASCISM

"Internal" Enemies, as in enemies within the totalist organization, serve a purpose. They are someone to blame for failures.
Eg:The "evil slave" class. The "character developing' elders of Rutherford times.
Stalins "Kulaks", a class of people who were resistant to the advance towards socialism.
These are always labelled "Traitor".

"External" Enemies tend to be everything outside the Totalist organization.
Whether the rest of the world in the case of North Korea, or whether everyone not a dub, in Witness world.
External enemies are portayed as objects to be feared. They invariably want to hurt the members. In times of crisis, the language relevant to the danger of external enemies tends to become extreme. Things such as Rape, torture, and violent murder are talked about.
The WT focused on these things heavily in the early 70s.
The purpose served was to bind the brothers more tightly to dependance and conformity with the Organization. It was a crisis time. Armaggedon was imminent. If they ever set another prediction, external enemy danger will become a focus again.
