    Are You Truly Tolerant?
    (Balance Is Needed)

Of course, we need to avoid being overly tolerant. For instance, terrible damage is done when religious authorities tolerate abusive priests who persistently molest boys and girls. “Treating the children as occasions of sin,” commented one reporter in Ireland, “the church authorities merely moved on the offending priest (to another location).”

Is just transferring such a man an example of proper tolerance? Hardly! Suppose a medical body allowed an irresponsible surgeon to continue operating, transferring him from one hospital to another, even though he was killing or maiming his patients. A mistaken sense of professional loyalty might produce such “tolerance.” But what about the victims whose lives were lost or adversely affected because of negligent or even criminal practices?

is this a case of the pot calling the kettle black??, or is this an evidence of someone's conscience bothering them. these paragraphs come out of the clear blue with no further comment about this issue in defining tolerance. why would you jab the catholics and bad doctors with no acknowledgement of the glass house wt resides in? in my opinion the largest perpetrators of "treating children as occasions of sin" would hit wt squarely between the eyes in a comparative ratio of members. does wt have a twinge of guilt for condemning others for the very things they practice?

    Bill Bowen,

Speaking about tolerant. You should be thankful that you have not been remove from your local congregation. At least not yet.

Look who arrogant VeniceIT? Are "they" still serving Jehovah?

Of course they're not serving Jehovah, Fred! They're shunning the one guy who's had the guts to take on the culture of paedophile protection within the 'Tower; if they'd just clean up their act and stop protecting child molesters, the claim of "Jehovah's clean organisation" wouldn't ring so hollow. By exposing this filthy mess, Bill Bowen is doing more for the society than the boys in Brooklyn.

BTW, Bill, never post between 3:00pm or 5:00pm, or this troll will be your first respondent.

    Stephanus,

How can Bill Bowen be busy than the boys in Brooklyn when he sits on his fat ass all day long?

I dunno Fred; ask the Literature Servant who mysteriously doesn't have any magazines for him to peddle, or the elders who don't allow him to go out in field service. Face it Fred, the Watchtower is shitscared over all this; they'd have d'fed him months ago, but lacked the courage of their convictions in the face of careful scrutiny by the media, and possibly by the authorities over this scandal (and the scandal is paedophiles being protected by elders, not that an elder should turn whistleblower). Good to see you're standing up for the right of the WBTS to protect child molesters from the full weight of the law, Fred. Perhaps it's time to publish another one of your diary pages on the subject.

Bill, I don't see how a mention of a sin in other religious groups means that someone is feeling guilty about that sin in the 'Tower. Just looks like their old method of deflection and projection to me. When there is a "True Christians should not..." article on the subject, you'll know that the 'Tower is having second thoughts about the practice.

    Stephanus,

Do you know who shitscared? It is me. Why? I just saw your picture.

Ah, that's Artie, The Strongest Man In The World, the superhero from The Adventures of Pete and Pete, scourge of evil-doers everywhere, including those who hide paedophiles in Kingdom Halls. No wonder you're scared, Fred!

    Silentlambs,

I can think of three possibilities for the inclusion of that hypocritical section of the article:

    1. Sheer blindness leading to a re-use of a common example they have used over the years. In other words, force of habit without thinking about how hypocritical it sounds.

    2. The WTS reacting to your efforts by digging in their heels, refusing to admit wrongdoing, and going on the offensive.

    3. An example of the struggle between the liberal forces and the conservative forces at headquarters. Service Dept is digging in their heels, and someone in Writing Dept decided that enough was enough and wrote that to give them a little dig.
