    Hi, or should I say G-day,

    I wonder , does any of our American ''brothers'' know what accent Rutherford had ?

    I hate the way he says chiiiildriiiiin.

    Rutherford had a deep Missouri drawl that otherwise sounded like noted politicians of his era, especially on radio. An old-timer I knew who had heard Mark Twain said Rutherford spoke with drawn out vowels much like Twain did.

    I don't hear much Missouri in his accent.....occassionally in his pausing but mostly his accent reflects his parentage. Both parents hail from Tennessee.

    I hear a touch of Will Rogers in some of the things he says. Rogers was from Oklahoma, did radio around the same time, but he was much more funny.
